Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsdale has been named the most valuable goalkeeper in the world by the CIES Football Observatory.
The CIES Football Observatory is a research group that was established in 2005 and focuses on statistical analysis in football. They have worked with the likes of FIFA, UEFA, Manchester City and Chelsea and, according to their statistical model, Ramsdale is valued at â¬79m (£67.5m).
The 25-year-old joined Arsenal back in 2021 for a fee of around £30m, having suffered back-to-back relegations with Sheffield United and Bournemouth. Eyebrows were initially raised over the signing, but Ramsdale quickly established himself as Arsenal’s first-choice goalkeeper and played a key role in their Premier League title push last season.
He also signed a lucrative new four-year deal with Arsenal in May, vowing to make “more special memories”. Ramsdale said: “It’s crazy to think it’s coming up to two years since we did this. I know that you guys weren’t totally overexcited about the signing of myself and I totally get it.
