Tomorrow’s equinox is making big changes for the Northern Hemisphere

Tomorrow is a special day – Autumn officially begins on September 23rd, 12:51 EST for the Northern Hemisphere, which brings in a host of changes for the region

The next moon brings an official shift of seasons in the Northern Hemisphere.

Starting September 23rd, barely an hour after midnight EST, it officially becomes Autumn. Whether you know it as spooky season, pumpkin spice month, sweater weather, Libra’s birthday or simply the moment ‘the Earth’s axis and its orbit line up so that both hemispheres get an equal amount of sunlight,’ as NASA does – it’s historically always been a very special time.

When the planet shifts, it fascinates us and always has. For most of the year, the Earth’s axis is tilted either toward or away from the sun. That means the sun’s warmth and light fall unequally on the northern and southern halves of the planet.
