Tom Brady makes pledge to Birmingham City fans after NFL legend invests in club

The seven-time Super Bowl winner still had some homework to do as Birmingham City prepared for their first EFL Cup game of the new season versus Cheltenham Town

NFL legend Tom Brady is quickly having to get to grips with the subtle intricacies of English football after he purchased a stake in Birmingham City.

Earlier this month, the world-famous retired quarterback stunned football when he announced that he would be the latest household name to step into the sport. Following in the footsteps of Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney at Wrexham, the 46-year-old has become a minority shareholder at St Andrews and will head up their new advisory board.

Although the seven-time Super Bowl victor spent 23 illustrious years in the NFL, it appears that his knowledge of English football is a little less extensive – something that the megastar is only too happy to admit himself. Taking to Twitter, he made light of his need to perhaps do some homework as the games start to come thick and fast for the Blues.

Pre-season may have a bit more of a pedestrian pace as players get back to full fitness but the EFL season is infamously relentless, with 46 fixtures to fulfil in total. The Blues will also take part in both the EFL Cup – otherwise known as the Carabao Cup – as well as the FA Cup, which will pad out the team’s schedule even more.
