Tom Brady buys stake in Birmingham City

Brady has entered into a partnership with Knighthead Capital Management to become a minority owner of Birmingham City

Tom Brady, a seven-times Super Bowl winner, has become a minority owner of Birmingham City.

Brady, regarded as one of the greatest players in NFL history, retired after 23 seasons earlier this year and has since entered a partnership with Knighthead Capital Management to secure a stake in the Championship club.

Birmingham, who finished 17th in the Championship last year, say Brady will become chairman of a new Advisory Board, as well as working alongside the sports science department. Brady will contribute to the club’s global marketing efforts and identify new commercial partnership opportunities for the club.

He said: “Birmingham City is an iconic club with so much history and passion and to be part of the Blues is a real honour for me. BCFC is built on teamwork and determination and I’m excited to work alongside the board, management and players to make our Second City club second to none. I’ve been part of some amazing teams in my day, and I’m looking forward to applying my perspective to create that same success here in Birmingham.”
