Thousands of Twitter users appear to be flocking to fellow social networking app Mastodon amid difficult times for Elon Musk’s Twitter. Founder Eugen Rochko said Mastodon has gained 230,000 users since October 27
Social media site Mastodon appears to be benefiting from the unease at the takeover of Twitter by billionaire Elon Musk.
Mastodon has been in existence since 2016 and is similar to Twitter in its system of following people, but people have free choice of the servers they follow.
Servers can also be run by strangers and may require invites to join them, instead of the free-for-all approach where the likes of Twitter and Facebook run their own servers.
Essentially, users can swap tweets for ‘toots’ and have more control over what appears on their timeline.
