We’re starting to see AI pop up everywhere in our daily lives, and one area that’s developing very quickly is in home security tech. A new indoor security camera has been launched which bundles in what its makers claim has one of the smartest AI systems in the business. It’s the Rex 3D Indoor Smart Security Camera.
But what does AI do in a camera, and why do we need it? The artificial intelligence allows the device to pick out movement and analyse it to decide whether, for example, it’s a human or a pet that’s crossed its path.
In the case of security cameras, the most useful outcome of this technology becoming smarter is it should result in fewer false alerts. But it can also be very handy in ensuring you never miss a notification.
The Rex 3D has a fairly conventional ball-shaped frame to it, and the spherical camera rotates around 355 degrees horizontally, and it can peer up and down through 90 degrees, so there’s little chance of any blind spots.
