More info As fans eagerly await Netflix’s hit series The Witcher to return with its third season, the streaming giant announced a major recasting. Netflix revealed Henry Cavill will not return to the series, instead, Geralt will be played by Liam Hemsworth. Although season three has yet to land on screens, bosses are already looking ahead to the show’s future as they confirmed seasons four and five. However, it’s been revealed actor Henry Cavill has stepped down from his role as Geralt. He took to Instagram with a lengthy statement where he disclosed he was ‘passing the torch’ to Hunger Games star Liam. Henry said: ‘My journey as Geralt of Rivia has been filled with both monsters and adventures, and alas, I will be laying down my medallion and my swords for season four. The Witcher season 3 has wrapped up filming ‘Henry Cavill has been an incredible Geralt, and I’m honoured that he’s handing me the reins and allowing me to take up the White Wolf’s blades for the next chapter of his adventure. ‘Henry, I’ve been a fan of yours for years and was inspired by what you brought to this beloved character. ‘I may have some big boots to fill, but I’m truly excited to be stepping into The Witcher world.’ Although the release date for season three has yet to be announced, executive producer Steve Gaub confirmed filming had officially wrapped in September. Alongside Liam, fans can also expect to see the return of Freya Allan and Anya Chalotra, with the addition of newcomers Robbie Amell, Meng’er Zhang, Hugh Skinner and Christelle Elwin.
