The Voice star pays tribute to Sir Tom Jones after winning final

Sir Tom Jones’ act Anthonia Edwards, Anne Marie’s Mark Howard, Olly Murs’ David Adeogun and Will.i.am’s singer Naomi Johnson had to battle it out until one was crowned the winner. However, after a tense sing-off, ITV host Emma Willis confirmed Anthonia received the most votes, winning The Voice 2022. Speaking ahead of the final, which was pre-recorded, Anthonia opened up exclusively to Express.co.uk about her time on the show. She went on to reveal what she plans to do following her victory and whether Sir Tom has given her any advice. Discussing her overall experience, Anthonia began: “It was a really good experience. “I chose The Voice because I felt like it would be a safe platform to explore my artistry. And so the whole experience was incredible.” Anthonia admitted while she wants to see where her musical journey takes her, she would still love to pursue a career in nursing. Casting her mind back to her very first audition, the singer admitted she had no clue which coach she was going to choose. The Voice: Anthonia said Sir Tom was proud about her victory The Voice: Anthonia and Sir Tom sang It’s A Man’s World However, it was with the help of her family that made her go with Sir Tom. “He was the first person to turn and just his response and reaction by my audition, it was so personable,” Anthonia recalled. “It was almost like it was just us talking and it just felt right. And he’s had such an incredible career, and he’s got a wealth of wisdom as well. “I felt all of that in his presence at the blind audition and it was between him and Anne Marie because she was just lovely and her comments were just beautiful. They were like, ‘Tom’ so it was a family effort.” From the blind auditions, Anthonia had to take part in the callbacks, which is when she got to spend time with Sir Tom and his team. Paying a tribute to the Sexbomb hitmaker, Anthonia said: “He just really championed me in myself. “And I think that’s what I’ll take from all of this, just having someone like Sir Tom Jones affirming me as a vocalist and singer.
