The number of screen hours a day that could damage your baby

Infants who watch screens for four or more hours a day face developmental problems such as issues with social skills

Babies who watch screens the most are nearly five times more likely to suffer communication problems by the age of two, a new study has shown.

Experts from Tohoku University in Japan found that infants faced a raft of developmental problems that increased as their screen time grew.

Those watching screens for four or more hours per day were also 74 per cent more likely to have problems with their fine motor skills, and twice as likely to struggle with problem solving and social skills, compared to children who watched less than one hour.

The team found that developmental delays in problem solving and communication were still present at the age of four.
