The Last Of Us multiplayer devs just hired Fortnite’s monetisation director

The multiplayer The Last Of Us game is almost certainly a free-to-play live service title, as Naughty Dog hire an expert in battle passes.

Considering they first announced it years ago, we still know virtually nothing about Naughty Dog’s The Last Of Us multiplayer game. It still doesn’t have a name or a release date, even though it’s assumed to be aiming for 2023.

What it does have, though, is a highly experienced monetisation director, who has just joined Naughty Dog after a more than seven year stint at Epic Games, as Fortnite’s senior systems designer.

His new role at Naughty Dog is that of principal monetisation designer, so either The Last Of Us game is going to have microtransactions or something else Naughty Dog is working on at the moment will instead.

It’s long been assumed that the multiplayer game is one of the 10 live service titles that Sony says it’s working on, although, as with everything else, that’s never actually been confirmed.
