At 13 years old, while his friends were picking potatoes, Chris McBride was getting his kicks on the links. More than half a century later, he is still to be found on the golf course, doing what he does best.
McBride, now 64, was introduced to the sport as a child at Seafield Golf Course in Ayr, where he played with his father and brother. He joined the “loopers” as a young teenager, earning his pocket money on the links at Turnberry while staying with his grandmother in Maybole.
A new film produced by The Links Diary, a golfing magazine, looks back on the five decades McBride has spent caddying across Scotland.
