The Great British Bake Off returns with animals and innuendo

Contestant Nicky baked a beaver-shaped cake for the animal-themed showstopper challenge. ‘I’m not even sure I know what a beaver looks like,’ Prue Leith said, prompting laughter in the Bake Off tent. As Nicky brought the cake to the judges’ table, Leith said: ‘So, Nicky, tell us about your beaver,’ sparking further laughs. Later, Paul Hollywood bemoaned the ‘bone dry’ beaver cake, with Bake Off’s new presenter, Alison Hammond replying ‘I don’t like dry beavers’.
