The 57-year-old weighed 29 stone at his heaviest, but after a serious health scare, following a type 2 diabetes diagnosis, he completely changed his life and started his healthy weight loss journey. Mark lost an impressive nine stones throughout his journey by reducing his sugar intake. He also used his golden retriever Baloo, who he dubbed his 'personal trainer', to help him exercise and keep fit. Mark was celebrated for his size on the ITV quiz show, The Chase and earned his name, 'The Beast, ' and quickly became a fan favourite. The quiz expert also told presenters he would love to get his dancing shoes on now that he is much lighter and display his moves in the Strictly ballroom. He said: "Now I'm a lot lighter and fitter I'd love to do it, but obviously, that's up to the powers that be". Hayley also suggested he would be great on the popular show. She said: "I think he'd be good at that because I used to be a dancer so I'd be like, 'Right, this is what you need to do. This is your homework'." Mark replied: "We've set ourselves a little goal. I'd like to get on Strictly and she'd like to get on Dancing on Ice. I can't do Dancing on Ice because my ankle is far too inflexible, they tested me last year. But, you know, Strictly will be fine."
