Black Friday 2022 will take place on Friday November 25 and continue through the weekend to ‘Cyber Monday’ November 28. Those who are looking to get their Christmas shopping done early will find significant discounts on tablets, gaming consoles, phones, beauty, fashion and big-ticket domestic purchases like vacuums, TVs and mattresses.
With the cost of living crisis, a certain degree of caution is allowable: some retailers have in the past raised prices in October so that the Black Friday discounts seemed larger. Others have rebranded their permanent discounts as Black Friday deals. But these practices are hardly new and canny shoppers factor them into their decisions. It remains true that Black Friday marks the start of the Christmas shopping season, prices are good this year and there are genuine deals to be found.
It’s no surprise that Amazon has the most, as it was responsible for bringing Black Friday to the UK. As well as tech and appliances, popular Christmas gifts such as spirits, clothes and beauty products are often discounted.
Both John Lewis and Currys tend to launch a few big bargains before the day itself. Both stores aim to price-match many of their competitors’ best deals, making John Lewis a worthwhile destination for high-end lifestyle products on Black Friday and Currys a decent place to look for tech and appliances deals.
