Terrier survives 50ft fall down a ravine after chasing a squirrel

It took three hours to rescue a dog who fell 50ft down a ravine because she chased a squirrel.

Patterdale terrier Roxy was distracted by the animal while on a walk in Pickering, North Yorkshire, on Saturday.

It took firefighters and mountain rescue three hours to rescue the two-year-old dog and her owner, who managed to return to the path on his own.

Crews were alerted at 4.50pm that a man and his dog had fallen off the walking path.
