The 16-year-old took on the ambitious plan after becoming frustrated by the impact fly tipping was having on his local area of Toxteth, with the 'Urban Scape Community Garden' opening in April. As well as organising litter picking events, Khan secured funding to deliver community skip days for disposing of larger objects and engaged the community ahead of developing the space. Khan and a team of volunteers positioned planters made from repurposed wood up and down the street with his 'Flood the Streets with Flowers' project. Of course, not every unsung hero can win an award, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't celebrate them. Every day as we count down to The Daily Mirror Pride of Britain Awards with TSB, we'll be telling inspirational and uplifting stories of people who share the Pride of Britain spirit. But that's not all. Through the course of his campaigning, tireless Khan published two children's books with the profits going towards the 'Mulgrave Street Action Group', a CIC he founded at just 14 years old during his summer holidays from school in 2021. He has also visited schools and delivered keynote speeches to share his remarkable story and spread his ambition of creating community cohesion and bringing his neighbourhood together. Khan said: 'The journey has been challenging but this is the best work experience I will ever have.' Mum Natasha said she was 'ever so proud'. Khan opened the community garden on April 6 along with Mayor Steve Rotheram and his headteacher as well as members of the community, family and friends.
