Team Europe want ‘two more years’ of Luke Donald to take on Bethpage – and Tiger Woods

Englishman may become first captain since Bernard Gallacher in 1995 to retain role as LIV Golf continues to cast its shadow over the game

Luke Donald has been urged to stay on as Europe’s Ryder Cup captain for the 2025 match in New York, with Tiger Woods being tipped to lead the Americans at Bethpage Black Course.

After guiding the home team to a resounding 16½- 11½ victory here at Marco Simone to reclaim the cup that was lost by a record margin in Wisconsin two years ago, Team Europe are clearly desperate to remain in the position, with Shane Lowry sparking a chant of “two more years, two more years!” at the prize ceremony.

However, Donald is remaining quiet about his intentions. “I want to enjoy this moment,” he replied when asked about the chances in the post-match press conference. “I haven’t been asked.”

Two more years, @LukeDonald
