One teacher has taken to Facebook to discuss the names of pupils joining her school (Image: Getty Images / stock image) After the school holidays end in September, a new class of children will join teachers to begin a brand new school year, with some starting for the first time. At birth, parents may have chosen names that help their child stand out, whereas other names might have been passed down from previous generations. Ahead of September, one teacher shared a list of children joining her school which has left other teachers a little baffled by the name selection. Posting on Facebook, the teacher shared a list of names they believed were “bonkers” whilst “on a quick scan of school enrolments”. Teachers online weighed in with their opinions of the names on the list (Image: Getty Images / stock photo) The Sun reports some of the names on the school register are more commonly heard of such as Jaxen and Aliyah. It is reported that the “unusual” names included Syakyra which is pronounced like “Shakira” according to the teacher. Other names the teacher believes were rare included: Christisarah, Rhydah, Presillar, Anjewel’Lea and Biar Biar. The long list also included the names: Maz, Angel-Lee, Deklyn, Alarna, Karleb and Aaryah. After sharing the students’ names on Facebook other parents were baffled as to why anyone would pick them for their own children. One said: “These parents really aren’t thinking it through.” Another harshly commented: “I think a lot of the parents should be enrolling because clearly they never graduated from grade school.” Some social media users disagreed with the negative comments and approved the list of names mentioned. One pointed out: “Normal names on this list include Diamond, Aliyah, Jaylene, Porsha, and Aalijah”. Whereas another teacher claimed: “I don’t think Aliyah or Skylar-raine are tragedies.” Other social media users listed names of previous pupils they believed were “unusual” with one person writing: “My friend’s a teacher and she has a kid named A’Blessyn.”
