T20 World Cup: England must adapt to survive – adjusting to new pitches is how to win this tournament

No sooner had England secured a crucial win against New Zealand at the Gabba than their thoughts turned to their next assignment. Sri Lanka are their final group 1 opponents on Saturday at the SCG, and it will be England’s first match at the ground on this trip. “Every wicket has been very different so we don’t really know what to expect,” Sam Curran said. “I guess it’s just [about] adapting to the surfaces.”

Should they make it into the knockouts, England face a probable semi-final in Adelaide, where they have also not been so far, before returning for a final, all being well, in Melbourne (where they lost to Ireland what now seems a lifetime ago).

This is supposed to be the challenge
