This was not a night at the Gabba for faint-hearted English supporters. Their team made them sweat horribly – most painfully when Moeen Ali dropped New Zealand’s most dangerous, in-form batsman, Glenn Phillips, on 15 off Adil Rashid’s bowling – but Jos Buttler’s side got the job done in the end and in the process kept their T20 World Cup hopes well and truly alive. On to Sydney and Sri Lanka on Saturday.
