Sussexes face ‘sink or swim’ moment with new Netflix deal ‘last roll of dice’

Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex , have one last run at their Netflix careers, PR experts believe. The royal couple is reportedly on the hook to produce another series for the streaming service, with a multi-million romance project in the works. As part of their £80million deal, Netflix has secured the rights to a romance novel currently held by Archewell Productions . “Meet Me at the Lake”, written by Carley Fortune and published in May, echoes several important aspects of the couple’s lives, and its rights have been scooped up for approximately £3million. But while the upcoming film would appear to be just another facet of the Netflix deal, the Daily Telegraph ‘s Camilla Tominey has suggested it is a “sink or swim” moment in a final “roll of the dice” for the couple, who have recently dipped out of the public eye. He suggested the upcoming adaptation is a “playbook” attempt by them to show they can still produce valuable content after their Spotify deal crumbled earlier this year. The music streamer parted ways with the couple’s Archewell Audio in June, with Spotify leaders reportedly frustrated with the time it took to conceptualise and complete projects. With the Royal Family having recently pushed the Sussex’s profiles further down the Firm’s official website, below those of Queen Elizabeth II’s lesser-known cousins, the Meet Me at the Lake project has been tipped as a vital lifeline for their public image.
