A teen university student was killed in Kentucky when a tyre from a truck came loose and hit her windscreen. Lauren Collins, 18, had to be ‘extricated’ from her car
A university student was tragically killed when a tyre broke away from a passing truck and slammed through her windshield.
Lauren Collins, 18, died when she was hit by a tyre on Interstate 75 near Richwood, Kentucky, the Boone County Sheriff’s Office confirmed.
The only occupant of the car at the time, Lauren had to be “extricated” from her 2012 Buick LaCrosse when the Walton Fire Department arrived at the scene and she was then transferred to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center “with life-threatening injuries.”
Lauren is reported to have sustained her injuries when the tyre came loose from a truck passing northbound on the other side of the interstate. It then bounced over the concrete barrier in the road before hitting the teen’s windshield.
