Lauren Collins, 18, died when she was hit by a tyre on Interstate 75 near Richwood, Kentucky, the Boone County Sheriff's Office confirmed. The only occupant of the car at the time, Lauren had to be 'extricated' from her 2012 Buick LaCrosse when the Walton Fire Department arrived at the scene and she was then transferred to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center "with life-threatening injuries." Lauren is reported to have sustained her injuries when the tyre came loose from a truck passing northbound on the other side of the interstate. It then bounced over the concrete barrier in the road before hitting the teen's windshield. The driver of the truck has not been identified. The tragically killed teen was recently celebrating finishing her first year at the University of Kentucky, where she was studying a fashion merchandising major. Described as a "free spirit" and "jokester" in her obituary, she was known for her "style and ability to light up a room." The obituary read: "She attended and graduated high school from Simon Kenton in May of 2022, where she had been a member of the Dance Team, and formerly engaged in taking and helping to teach at The Dance Center in Independence. "For several years, she worked part-time at Emerson's Bakery in Florence, KY and recently Buffalo Wild Wings in Independence. Lauren had a vivacious personality and was a great friend." Friends have left photos and heartfelt tributes to Lauren on her obituary page. In a touching tribute, one friend wrote: "Growing up, Lauren was full of bows, glitter, and wide-eyed stuffed animals.
