Bridgewater Street, in Little Hulton, has been evacuated (Image: MEN)Police have evacuated more than 20 homes on a residential street in Manchester this afternoon following reports that a grenade has been found at one of the properties. Firefighters and police were spotted descending on Bridgewater Street, in the Little Hulton area, as the bomb squad rushed to the scene.A number of people have been evacuated from their homes for safety, residents have told the Manchester Evening News. In fact, one woman living close to the scene said around 24 homes have been evacuated as a result. Photos taken at the scene also show police officers in the street, with a cordon in place.A statement from Greater Manchester Police, received moments ago, says: “Greater Manchester Police received a report at around 11am today (Wednesday 26 October 2022) regarding items of concern which are believed to grenades at a property on Bridgewater Street, Worsley.”After initial enquiries a cordon has now been put in place as a safety precaution by officers with a number of properties being evacuated and members of public are asked to avoid the area whilst Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) ensure the scene is safe and secure.”We’ll be bringing you the very latest updates, pictures and video on this breaking news story.Please check back regularly for updates on this developing story.
