 A blind dog that police believe was stolen from a family home has been found safe more than 150 miles away. Bowie, a blind, tri-coloured Australian Shepherd, was taken from his home in Southport, on the Gold Coast, on Wednesday. Police think a group broke into the Regatta Parade address between 10am and 1.15pm that day. The Durnam family returned home to find the treasured pet, car and other personal items missing, while items had been strewn about the house. CCTV footage shows Bowie in a car at a petrol station (Picture: Queensland Police) Several items were allegedly stolen during the incident, including a grey 2022 Hyundai Tucson station wagon with Queensland registration 021FO8, within which Bowie was driven away from his home. The car was intercepted by NSW Police – with Bowie found safe near Nambucca Heads, on the state's mid-north coast. A man, 48, has been arrested and is expected to be charged with property offences. The Durman family, whose home was broken into, were away on a ski trip at the time. Luke Durman told 7NEWS: 'Once we realised Bowie was gone, the cars and everything was immaterial to that. 'The focus was, we just wanted Bowie back.' The Durmans also told 7NEWS that it was not in Bowie's nature to run away and that some of his belongings, such as collars, had also disappeared after the break in.
