Refurbished Steam Decks are available at discounted prices (Image: VALVE) The Steam Deck has proven incredibly popular since launching back in 2022. The handheld PC is regularly out of stock on the Steam website, which is why Valve’s latest deal might be too hard to resist. If you’re willing to invest in an officially refurbished model, then you can save upwards of £100 on the price of a Steam Deck. Available now on the Steam website , the refurbished models start at just £279. Indeed, the 64GB Steam Deck is available for £279, while a refurbished 256GB model is listed for £369. You can save more than £100 by grabbing a 512GB Steam Deck, which is reduced to £459. According to Valve, the refurbished models have been tested more than 100 times each, and are said to meet or even exceed the performance standards of retail units. Valve explains more: “Each Certified Refurbished Steam Deck has been thoroughly tested to the same high standards as our retail units. “Every device goes through a complete factory reset, software update, and an extensive examination involving over 100 tests at one of Valve’s facilities. “Among the tests are all controller inputs, the audio system, the screen, and internals. Battery health is also assessed to ensure proper functionality and longevity.” The only drawback is that the units may have “minor cosmetic blemishes”, although nothing that will negatively impact the gaming experience. The Steam Deck features a custom APU, which is optimised for handheld gaming. Vave describes it as a “Zen 2 + RDNA 2 powerhouse”, which is capable of running the latest triple-A games. While not every Steam game is compatible with the Deck, users can view their entire Steam library on the device. Each game has a compatibility rating, which explains whether or not the game can be played, and if you’ll need to make any changes for the optimal experience. Lots of blockbuster games are compatible with the device without the need to make any tweaks, including new releases such as Baldur’s Gate 3.
