Spanish school evacuated as ‘pupil stabs two teachers and two classmates’

A school in southern Spain has been evacuated after a teenage student stabbed two fellow pupils and two teachers.

The attack took place early this morning at the Elena García Armada Institute in Jerez de la Frontera and reports say there are several more injured students. According to EFE, a teen student stabbed several teachers and students early in the morning and has since been arrested. According to police sources, the attacker used a knife and a teacher was reportedly injured in the eye. The spokesman for the Jerez National Police station said the attacker had two knives, according to Canal Sur.

Enrique Gallego, a journalist from Jerez TV, said sources from the school believe the pupil got to class in the morning and took out a large knife from his backpack. Then he went “stabbing everyone who passed by.” The school is currently being evacuated and several ambulances are now present as the victims are being treated at the site of the attack.

Meanwhile, two weeks ago a Norwegian man was arrested on suspicion of stabbing to death a British woman believed to be his partner. Detectives confirmed the incident and the arrest in a short statement this morning, A spokesman for the Civil Guard said: “We can confirm that today at 7.40am we were alerted to a possible domestic violence incident at a property in Orihuela Costa which resulted in the death of the victim.
