Manchester United signed Sofyan Amrabat on the final day of the summer window, but Erik ten Hag has had to wait almost a full month before being able to call upon his new signing
Erik ten Hag has been told he risks annoying Sofyan Amrabat after deploying him as a full-back on his full Manchester United debut.
United spent much of the summer chasing Amrabat, ultimately landing the Moroccan moments before the window slammed shut. He was made to his wait for his debut, though, after arriving at Old Trafford with a minor back injury.
Amrabat came off the bench in the closing stages of the win at Burnley, but now back at full fitness, he was given the nod start against Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup. However, rather than being used as a midfielder, Ten Hag opted to start the loanee on the left side of his back four.
The United boss explained: “He has played full-back. Normally he plays in midfield, but he can do it. He will play where the manager needs him. He’s a warrior, he will do the job. That’s who Sofyan is.
