All the work is being carried out behind black fencing, with signs up, telling park-goers that an "investigation" is underway and that the ride is closed due to "scientific testing". Members of the resort's fan community site Tower Times recently shared photos of the progress of the refurbishment. The pictures reveal a new look for the track, which had become faded and pinkish-white before the ride closed. Now it is black, with a blood-red motif painted down the side, continuing the ride's theme of "an alien creature excavated from the ground". The giant alien model around which the track runs has also been given a new lick of paint, making it more "lifelike" according to the community site. They also report "scenic painting of the station" and that the "brake run has now been painted in black to match the new track". Alton Towers have remained quiet about exactly how the ride will look once it's reopened to guests, but planning documents showed that work included track replacements, as well as other maintenance.
