Most of us are aware of the various health benefits of eating healthily and staying active, particularly when it comes to dementia. However, there are some more unexpected ways to help ward off the disease.
While there has been some promise with two new drugs which have the potential to slow the progression of Alzheimer’s, these are still years away from approval and any side effects are not yet clear. Dr Henk Swanepoel, lead neuropsychologist at Cygnet Health Care, said: “With no cure for dementia, there’s a growing need for more non-pharmacological interventions.”
Researchers have looked at a whole host of different activities, foods, and healthcare aspects to see what their impact is when it comes to the risk of dementia. They found several ‘hacks’ which are a little different to the usual general healthcare ones which could help lower your risk.
