Sinking feeling? Ed Davey tipped in to the sea while kayaking

Lib Dem leader faces choppy waters in more ways than one while in Bournemouth for his party’s annual conference

The Liberal Democrats made a splash on Sunday afternoon as Sir Ed Davey was tipped into the sea while kayaking.

Sir Ed, whose party is in Bournemouth for its annual autumn conference, took to the waters with his fellow politicians in a yellow vessel off Sandbanks beach.

He was pushed into the water by Josh Babarinde, a Liberal Democrat councillor in Eastbourne who will contest the seat on a national level at the next general election.

The pair were joined by Roz Savage, who is a Guinness World Record holder who became the first woman to row solo across the Atlantic, Indian and Pacific oceans.
