She was arrested today after cops made the grisly discovery in the town of Ngcobo. The victims have been named as Elihle, two, Othalive, five, Inganathi, nine, and Lizalise, 11. Police spokesman Brigadier Tembinkosi Kinana said cops are investigating the alleged murders. He said: "According to the report, the 32-year-old mother, together with her four children aged between two and 11, were in their home in the village. "In the morning four deceased bodies of the children were found in the rondavel where they were sleeping. "Preliminary investigation reveals that they had (allegedly) been assaulted by their own mother with a sledgehammer. "The mother was immediately arrested and will be charged with murder." Khula Community Development Project director and children's rights activist Pretros Majola revealed the mum's alleged motive, reports Dispatch Live. He said: "We woke up to this shocking news this morning. 'We have learned with great shock the killing of these children; allegedly by their own biological mother. "It is alleged that the mother said she wanted to make sure she does not leave her children behind when she dies." The mum is expected to appear at Ngcobo magistrate's court when charged. Local mayor Dr Ab Xuma described the children's deaths as a "painful incident". He said: "We wish to extend our heartfelt condolences to the family members, and Tsalaba community at large.
