One officer appeared to pull out a taser at the knifeman but did not fire the stun gun, according to cops. An onlooker can be heard saying "yo yo yo, he's got the shank on" just before the teen fell to the ground. A number of officers then rushed in to arrest the man as he lay on the floor while witnesses were heard screaming in the background. West Midlands Police confirmed that a teenager was charged with possession of a knife. The force said no-one was tasered and the 17-year-old was only "red dotted" to ensure the safety of others. Although no one was injured, staff at the McDonald's were left "shaken" by the incident, said cops. Three knives were recovered from the scene in total. The teen was remanded to appear before Birmingham Magistrates Court on Monday morning. In a statement, police said: "We have charged a teenager with possession of a knife after we were called to McDonald's in Birmingham city centre at around 4.40am yesterday (23 July). "A 17-year-old boy who cannot be named for legal reasons, was arrested within minutes of the call being made and three knives were recovered.
