Shiver Point by Gabriel Dylan review — killer slugs take over in a fright-lite yarn

“Something was going on in Shiver Point. Something bad.” Ever since Alex and a rag-tag bunch of fellow misfits at his new school saw a flash in the woods one night, strange things have been happening in the small town he must now call home, a town that he’s about to find out is not quite as boring as he first thought.

All the cat food has vanished from the shops. The internet and phone signal is down. At school, the pupils arrive one morning to find that “the hard drives of all the computers had been ripped apart as if a huge bear had . . . savaged the circuit boards inside”.

The intruder had also left a trail of the same black slime
