The Pogues singer, 65, has suffered from a number of health issues over recent months and was hospitalised over Christmas and the New Year with the rare brain condition encephalitis. Encephalitis is a life-threatening condition that causes the brain to swell and has the potential to cause loss of movement and difficulty with speech, with Shane being rushed for urgent treatment at the time. He was then admitted to intensive care in June this year, although the reason remains unknown. Thankfully, Shane has now been moved to a hospital ward and is on the road to recovery. Sharing the news with fans, his wife Victoria Mary Clarke, 57 – who Shane married in 2018 – posted a very sweet selfie.
