 A group of vicious monkeys left a man in hospital after pushing him down a hill and attacking him. Manee Chitdusadee, 44, was working as a driver in Chumphon province, Thailand, last Thursday when he pulled over alongside some woodland for a break. He then said a wild female pig-tailed macaque, known as a 'devil monkey', leapt out of the bushes and jumped on him. Manee said he fell around 160ft down a slope, where more of the macaques attacked him. He said: 'The monkeys were screaming. They were biting and scratching me… I was injured from the fall and I thought there was no way for me to escape. 'I couldn't believe it was happening. They were so aggressive and there were too many of them for me to fight them. My body was locked with fear so I curled up to try and protect myself.' Video footage shows the moment rescue crews pulled an injured Manee out of the forest, and gave him first aid. He was rushed to the Sawee Hospital as he was losing a lot of blood. He is since recovering in hospital after receiving injections for rabies. The Na Sak Police Station said he had suffered deep cuts on his right ankle, achilles tendon, and both arms, and was crying from the pain. Rescue staff member Pornpitak Jaidee said: 'This route connecting Chumphon and Ranong province is known for wild animals' presence, but it is the first time a human got attacked. 'The mother macaque might have acted out of possessiveness to protect her children or territory.' A){kind=link}
