Households will be left without water and pollution incidents will go untreated if hundreds of Scottish Water employees go on strike after a ballot, unions have warned.
Unison consulted members on taking industrial action and found that 82 per cent are willing to strike unless proposed changes to their pay and grading are withdrawn and a better salary offer is put forward.
Unite held a consultative ballot among its members at Scottish Water and found that 92 per cent were willing to walk out. The union says this means that about 500 staff are prepared to strike.
