School sends mum 20p bill because son snapped a pencil

NEWS… BUT NOT AS YOU KNOW IT

A mum has been forced to pay 20p after her 10-year-old son broke a pencil at school.

Louise Owen received a letter from Lawn Primary School in Northfleet, Kent, saying she needs to pay for the stationery her son Lennie-Lee Maguire broke ‘as soon as possible’.

The mum-of-four, 32, said: ‘When he first came in I said “What have you done now, Lennie?” But he didn’t have a clue and didn’t even mention the pencil.

‘The first thing he said to me was that he was kicking a football in the playground and the ball went over the fence, so he’d automatically thought this letter was about losing the ball.
