Gillett faced a string of allegations, including that she had threatened to dismiss or engineer the redundancy of a staff member in retaliation to a grievance he had raised. In a staff meeting to discuss an Ofsted inspection, she told employees under her that they would be sacked if they were 'not good enough' and accused them of wasting taxpayers' money. Gillett denied these accusations and was cleared of others, but admitted calling one worker 'tiresome', 'immature and plain petty' and called a leadership team 'dysfunctional'. She also denied bullying staff or referring to them as 'useless f*****s' and was cleared of showing favouritism. The panel judged her actions to be 'calculated and motivated', adding there was 'limited remorse, but this was only in relation to the facts of the particulars admitted'. In findings published this week, Sarah Buxcey, acting on behalf of the Secretary of State for Education, wrote: 'The findings of misconduct are serious as they include a finding of bullying staff and dishonesty. 'I am particularly mindful of the finding of bullying staff in this case and the impact that such a finding has on the reputation of the profession. 'In my view, it is necessary to impose a prohibition order in order to maintain public confidence in the profession.' A bullying school boss has been banned from working in education after calling staff ‘useless f*****s’.
Sarah Gillett was found guilty of unprofessional conduct and bringing the profession into dispute after an investigation.
The 48-year-old was also found to have lied about a masters degree she claimed to hold.
Complaints were raised about her behaviour while in the position of chief executive at ACE Schools Multi Academy Trust in Plymouth, Devon, between June 2016 to July 2019.
