Speaking to the official Anderlecht website, he said: "After speaking with [Sports CEO] Jesper [Fredbeg] and [Manager] Brian [Riemer], I was very excited about the project that they're putting in place. "Anderlecht is just a massive club and former teammates from different places have always talked so highly and warmly of this place. It was something that I really wanted to become part of." Schmeichel left Nice after losing his place as the first choice goalkeeper to Marcin Bulka who the club signed from PSG. He joined the Ligue 1 side at the start of last season after spending 11 years between the sticks at Leicester. The Danish shot-stopper made an astonishing 479 appearances for the Foxes helping them achieve the impossible by winning the Premier League in 2016.
