Daisy Berrington, a student, was looking for ways to save money and now she spends just £5 a month on food – by eating her neighbour’s food waste, including cream cheese, herbs, and wine
A cash-strapped student managed to reduce her food bill to just £5 a month – by eating her neighbour’s waste. Daisy Berrington, 19, was looking for ways to save money and realised the amount she was spending on food each month was massively draining her income.
Then she discovered an app called Olio, where people list food items they are thinking of throwing away for others in the community to collect for free. Daisy, who studies politics at the University of Manchester, downloaded the app in October 2021 and since then she’s managed to slash her food bills down to a pittance.
