Australian sailor Tim Shaddock, 54, survived gruelling ordeal of three months at sea with only raw fish to sustain him and his faithful hound Bella for company – but he’s had to leave her behind in Mexico to be reunited with his family in Sydney
The man who spent three months adrift in the Pacific Ocean with only raw fish and rainwater to sustain him and his pet dog for company has rehomed his faithful hound after being rescued.
Tim Shaddock, 54, was found alive this week on board the catamaran that had been his home for more than 90 days. The sailor was reported missing after setting off from Mexico’s Baja peninsular to cross the ocean to French Polynesia.
After setting his first foot on dry land after pulling in to the port city of Manzanillo in Mexico, around 337km west of his departure point, he said he was grateful to be out of the shark-infested waters.
“I’m feeling alright. I’m feeling a lot better than I was, I tell ya,” Shaddock told reporters.
