WARNING DISTURBING: Pamela Mattinson was labelled ‘sadistic’ by a judge but won’t face any prison time after a neighbour caught her trying to beat the screaming kitten to death with a brick
A smirking grandmother walked free from court after dumping her pet kitten in a neighbour’s wheelie bin before trying to brick the helpless animal to death during a drinking binge.
Pamela Mattinson, who had previous domestic abuse convictions, grinned as she avoided prison for the cruel attack. She repeatedly hurled a large brick into the bin with both hands as the terrified cat screamed inside.
The 49-year-old initially fled the scene when confronted by her neighbour but returned, pulling the pet out in a plastic bag and asking him “why is my cat in your bin?” before threatening to smash his windows. Police arrested Mattinson as she carried the cat in her arms to a local vet.
The creature was said to be distressed, with injured hind legs and heavy bleeding from its paw. The kitten has since made a miraculous recovery and is now living with new owners. When quizzed Mattinson, of Bolton, Lancs, said she had accidentally injured her pet whilst trying to frighten off a larger cat which had been harassing it.
