WARNING, DISTRESSING CONTENT: One of the Russian snipers is accused of sexually assaulting a woman’s four-year-old daughter, and both âraped girls aged 15 and 17′ during Vladimir Putin’s invasion
Two Russian snipers accused of gang raping a mother at gunpoint in front of her husband are to face trial in Ukraine.
One is accused of sexually assaulting the woman’s four-year-old daughter, and both âraped girls aged 15 and 17′ during Vladimir Putin’s invasion.
A formal indictment has been sent by Ukrainian state prosecutors to the court and they will be tried – one in absentia, the other posthumously – for multiple acts of rape and using sexual violence as a war crime against women and underage girls.
It is now clear that one of the two Russian servicemen who later died in the war – Yevgeny Chernoknizhniy, 27 – was given a posthumous Order of Courage, an honour ultimately bestowed in the name of Putin, and hailed as a “hero” and “real man” at a ceremony commemorating his life.
