Russian kids as young as nursery age receiving military training in their playgrounds

Pre-school children take part in marching practice in photographs taken across Russia – and older kids are even being taught how to dig trenches and throw grenades

Children as young as four are receiving military training in playgrounds across Russia, it has emerged.

Youngsters take part in marching practice and older kids are even being taught how to dig trenches and throw grenades in the nation. Some kids as young as seven are being shown how to shoot weapons with real ammunition – at their schools.

National curriculum is being changed in Russia to prepare children for war. The drive has happened following the nation’s invasion of Ukraine, which Russian government says has led to a huge outcry of patriotism across the country.

There are now, therefore, mandatory classes on military-patriotic values, and updated history books accentuate Russian military triumphs. Education Minister Sergei Kravtsov has ordered schools to take children on excursions to military units, and host “military-sports games, meetings with military personnel and veterans,” as well as classes on drones.
