Russia soldier rages at army chief for abandoning troops

During the phone call, a Russian soldier told his relative that men from the 2nd Commandant Company of the 362nd Motorised Rifle Regiment from the city of Lipetsk had been abandoned by commanders on the frontline in Svatove in Ukraine. The call from the surviving soldier exposed the number of losses Russian battalions were experiencing as he claimed that 2,500 men from his regiment had already died. The Russian soldier raged and accused the Russian military chiefs of lying to the troops. The Russian serviceman said: “We are just meat, just meat! The guys return from one battalion (500 people) only 15-20 return.”The guys return from one battalion (500 people)…only 15-20 return.”They say ‘that’s it guys, our battalion doesn’t exist anymore’. The commander is lying to us, he says that according to the hospital 20 were killed and 40 were wounded.”But the hospital knows of only those brought there, so he reports based off that, we have many dead and many wounded.JUST IN: British solider, 24, shot in head and killed during live training exercise, inquest told Russian serviceman (Image: Getty) Russian army (Image: Getty)The Russian soldier added: “But removing the dead, removing the wounded. In many cases, they are poorly equipped.”In September, Russian officers were concerned that some recently mobilised reservists were arriving in Ukraine without weapons.”Open source images suggest that those rifles which have been issued to mobilised reservists are typically AKMs, a weapon first introduced in 1959. Many are likely in barely usable condition following poor storage.”AKM fires 7.62mm ammunition while Russia’s regular combat units are mostly armed with 5.45mm AK-74M or AK-12 rifles.”The integration of reservists with contract soldiers and combat veterans in Ukraine will mean Russian logisticians will have to push two types of small arms ammunition to front line positions, rather than one.”This will likely further complicate Russia’s already strained logistics systems.”READ NEXTPlanet Earth has ‘occasion to celebrate’ as population hits historic 8 billion peopleUkrainian MasterChef cooks traditional meals for those on 10-hour train to see ZelenskyCost of living crisis hits supermarket shelves as food product prices double in two yearsMichael Gove vows to ban ‘ugly new homes’ declaring war on ‘restrictive’ building firmsUS CIA director meets with Putin’s spy chief to discuss nuclear weapons and prisoners
