Russia accuses UK Royal Navy of carrying out Nord Stream gas pipeline explosions

The Kremlin was accused of attacking the Nord Stream pipelines beneath the Baltic Sea in late September, sending methane gas spewing into the water

Russia has accused the UK’s Royal Navy of carrying out the Nord Stream gas pipeline explosions.

The press release accusing the UK’s marine force of sabotaging the key pipeline offered no evidence for its claims.

The defence ministry in Moscow said: “According to available information, representatives of this unit of the British Navy took part in the planning, provision and implementation of a terrorist attack in the Baltic Sea on September 26 this year – blowing up the Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines.”

The Mirror has contacted the Ministry of Defence (MoD) for a comment.
