Russell Brand’s ‘joke’ about sex with teens resurfaces after allegations

Russell Brand the remark whilst encouraging youngsters to vote for him at the Teen Choice Awards in 2010, in which he was nominated for a comedy actor award

A historic tweet posted by Russell Brand in which he joked about sex with teenagers has resurfaced online.

It comes after the comedian and actor was accused of rape, sexual assault and emotional abuse at the height of his fame which was claimed in a joint Channel 4’s Dispatches and The Sunday Times investigation. He recently shared a video statement denying ‘criminal’ and ‘very serious’ allegations and insisting all of his sexual relationships had been consensual.

Brand, using his X (formerly Twitter) account, @RustyRockets, took to the platform in July 2010 urging teenagers to vote for him at the Teen Choice Awards that year. He was nominated in the Choice Movie Actor: Comedy category for his role in Get Him to the Greek, but lost out to Killer star, Ashton Kutcher.

Prior to the ceremony, which began with a performance by his future wife, Katy Perry, Brand shared a link to the voting website and penned: “After all the years of free orgasms a chance for teenagers to give me something back.” It comes after one of Brand’s alleged victims – referred to as ‘Alice’ – claimed in Dispatches she was just 16 and still at school when the former Big Brother’s Big Mouth presenter allegedly assaulted her.
