Rugby World Cup: Is last-ditch Black Ferns revival enough to topple England?

England are this weekend coming up against one of the most triumphant coaching tickets in rugby, the 2011 champion band back together again for the World Cup final. New Zealand have Wayne Smith as director of rugby, assisted by Graham Henry and Mike Cron. Steve Hansen is not involved but his daughter, Whitney, is. They have called in favours from Dan Carter, Keven Mealamu, Ma’a Nonu and more.

Smith, “The Professor”, has brought many of his pedigree methods: dojo training known as conditioning for combat; talk of superpowers (focusing on players’ strengths, not weaknesses); and laughter, citing a hormonal study with the All Blacks that suggested a hearty chuckle can start your week right.
