The Royal Family is rooting for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s new Netflix project to be a success, according to a palace insider. It recently emerged that Netflix bought the rights of Meet Me at the Lake – a bestseller written by Carley Fortune – with the aim of Meghan and Harry turning it into a film or series. The move appears to be Meghan and Harry’s latest high-profile media venture following the release of the Duke’s tell-all memoir Spare in January. However, unlike with Spare which took square aim at the Firm, the Royal Family are said to be rooting for the Duke and Duchess to turn the bestseller into a blockbuster. ‘If the film flops then they’ll no doubt revert to mud-slinging,’ a palace insider told the Telegraph’s Camilla Tominey . Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are set to produce a film for Netflix. During that interview, she told Oprah that a senior member of the Royal Family had made remarks concerning the colour of the yet-unborn Prince Archie’s skin. Following Spare, there was intense speculation that the Duchess would pen her own tell-all memoir. Harry’s book became an instant bestseller upon its release. The rest of the Royal Family is said to be rooting for the Duck and Duchess’s project. (Image: GETTY) For now, however, the couple will likely be preoccupied with Meet Me at the Lake. The book follows a couple who meet in their 30s and deals with issues of childhood trauma including one character losing a parent in a car accident. Netflix paid an estimated $3.8 million for the film rights and it’s believed Harry and Meghan will be producers on the project.
