Royal fans full of praise for Kate’s Antarctic mission

Kate, Princess of Wales has recently announced her patronage for a new polar mission, which will see Captain Preet Chandi attempt to make the 1,000 mile crossing across the Antarctic continent in 75 days. Kate’s support follows in a long tradition for the Royal Family, dating back over 100 years.Both King Charles and the Kensington Palace Twitter pages posted messages of support on the social media site.The Prince and Princess of Wales tweeted: “Proudly supporting Captain @preetchandi10’s extraordinary challenge to become the first woman to cross Antarctica solo and unsupported.”King Charles and Queen Camilla also wrote: “The Princess of Wales has today become Patron of Captain @preetchandi10’s expedition across Antarctica.”Captain Chandi MBE is aiming to become the first woman to cross Antarctica solo and unsupported, travelling over 1000 miles.” The Princess of Wales is patronising an expedition to Antarctica (Image: Getty)Both posts saw an outpouring of praise from royal fans congratulating both the captain and the princess on the extraordinary expedition.Twitter user @brigantia_ posted: “Good luck to Captain Preet Chandi.”An incredible challenge.”And I love the tradition of HRH being patron!READ MORE: Lady Louise Windsor could exit royal fold as Firm becomes ‘selective’ Kate is continuing a royal tradition of royal patronages (Image: Getty)”The patronage follows in a long tradition for the RF, dating back to King Edward VII’s support of Scott’s Discovery expedition in 1901 and Shackleton’s Nimrod in 1907.”The Twitter account for Team Army wrote: “What fabulous news! Team Forces/Team Army is extremely proud that The Princess of Wales is now the Patron of Capt Preet Chandi’s expedition to become the first woman to cross Antarctica solo and unsupported. #polarpreet.”User @lovefamilywales added: “Such a great support.
